Hey, Who’s this “Nick Riggs” fella?
I began pursuing a passion for video creation and editing when I was a child, running around the neighborhood with my mom’s camcorder. I would film my own comedy sketches, one man shows, stop-motion scenes, and music videos. Afterwards I would edit them all within the camera before recording it to a VHS tape. As a child with no access to a computer, I saw a creative vision and worked with the tools I had to achieve my creative goals.
Throughout school, I would continue to explore my fervor for video by taking any video production class I could, while simultaneously starting a band to pursue my love for the musical genre that clearly promises to lead to a financially prosperous future: obnoxiously loud punk rock.
As time went on, the band’s needs for different types of media (demo recordings, shirt designs, videos, hardly legible logos, etc.) became apparent, but there seemed to be one constant obstacle to overcome: money. Or in our case, a lot of money. As one must to do in the punk rock community, I decided to just do it myself.
Little did I know, I was cutting my teeth in preparation for my career in creativity. The grueling challenges of learning how produce and edit visual and audible media were disguised by my delight in making art. I acquired a degree of understanding with programs that would usually require…a degree.
Instead of falling into debt, I ended up falling in love with creating.
That’s a fancy way of saying I “didn’t go to college.”
With close to 10 years of freelancing history with multiple clients, experience as a video lead at a marketing agency, a background in video creation for a multimillion dollar company, and the ability to put my leg behind my head, I have forged a unique career trajectory, independently shaping my creative path and honing a distinct, elevated style that sets my video work apart, all while standing on one leg.
Everyone loves lists!
